Learning The Fundamentals – World of Warcraft Maps

By Orchish Humor On October 8, 2010 No Comments

Even if you have only in the near past started playing World of Warcraft, you’ll discover that the world itself is reasonably gigantic. This is why you want to take a look at the World of Warcraft maps that can help you figure out where you are and where you have to go. There are many World of Warcraft maps that you should really know about and understand how to use, and the quicker you learn about them, the better off you’re going to be when it comes to getting where you have to be. Take a moment to check the maps that are usually open to you as you play the game.

When you open up the game, presuming that you’re using the standard control interface and have not made any alterations, you can see a tiny circle in the higher right hand corner of the screen. This small circle will basically show you what your speedy vicinity looks like. You’ll see a tiny blue arrow within the circle that shows where you are on the map as well as what direction you are pointed in. You can do all your navigation from this small little circle. This map will also allow you to track particular things and the tracking will show up as little yellow dots. Arrows will also appear around the edge of the circle pointing at party members or giant towns that you are near to.

When you click on the map, you will be in a position to go to a full screen version of the area you are in. When you first enter a section, the map is utterly blank, showing only the outline and the name of the section itself, but as you start running round the area, whether you are on foot or on a mount, you’ll be able to explore it and to give names to the areas that are on the map. There are accomplishments that are generally accessible for exploring whole zones or maybe whole kingdoms. Of all the World of Warcraft maps, this could be the one which you finish up using the most.

You may also want the advantage of having the full map up on your screen while you are running around, and here’s where your mini-map a come into action. The mini-map can be

Quest Helper and Cartographer Quest: Which is better?!

By Collapsar On July 15, 2009 No Comments

It is hard to choose which is better, the well known Quest Helper, or the great Cartographer? I used to only use Quest Helper, yet ever since I found out about Cartographer; I have found a very well made questing mod! But since some people are still choosing which questing mod to choose, I’ll just lay down the pros and cons of both of them.

You might be one of those people that that is saying to them self, “what on God’s green earth is a mod, and are they even that needed? What exactly do mods add to the game that I may be missing?” Well the first question is probably the easiest to answer. A mod is a program that is used to help enhance your interface and get information that is otherwise not provided, just to name a few. Now the last question is probably the hardest to answer because it all depends on how much you know about the game and what you want out of the game. I was never able to quest effectively and it would take forever to level because I didn’t know where to go or what to do. I would spend hours on a quest because I wouldn’t know what to do.

Quest Helper (QH) is a very well known mod that has helped many people get through the tedious process of leveling a lot faster. QH looks at the quest you just got and shows you on the map where you might be able to find the thing you are looking for. It also has different icons depending on just exactly what kind of quest it is whether it’s killing a named mob or looking for the entrance to a dungeon. QH also tells you what level the quest is. Now personally I had been using this mod for about a year before I found out about an alternative.

Some of the issues that are with QH though are:

  • Quest helper is not exact, as are many mods. Yet with QH, it gives you an area where is should be, but sometimes, you may sit there for 20-30 minutes and it never shows. That is because QH doesn’t

Required Raiding Mods by Guilds

By Collapsar On July 7, 2009 No Comments

There are many different kinds of guilds out there. There are the leveling guilds, wanting to help you level; there’s the casual guild, doing things at their own pace when they can, sometimes raiding; and there is the hard core raiding guild that always looks to be the best and complete end game content. In this article, it will be about the mods that most raiding and even casual guilds require

One mod that is an absolute for raiding is DBM, also known as Deadly Boss Mods. This mod is very useful when you need to know how long till enrage on a boss, how long till the next phase, and so on. This mod should always be at the top of your list if you plan on raiding. It is also useful for the regular dungeons and their timers. This mod can be found here.

Another mod that is very useful if you are healing or even tanking, is Grid. Grid is an add on that  is used to see who is in your raid, and allows you to target someone by clicking on their name in the grid interface. This addon also helps to show who has a debuff, how much health everyone has lost, and even show who has aggro. This addon is not usually required by raiding guilds. Yet it is a very useful mod for raiding, and it’s an add on I use and always must have. This add on can be found here.

There are many more add ons out there, but these are the two that will help the most at raiding. Remember, all mods can be found here. Click here to continue reading
